Present here are the first UK editions of 'Franny and Zooey', 1962, and 'Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction', 1963.In the publisher's original price unclipped dust wrappers.The first work is composed of the short story 'Franny', and novella 'Zooey'. They had initially both appeared in the New Yorker magazine in 1955 and 1957 respectively.This work focuses on the two youngest siblings of the Glass family, a family who made frequent appearances throughout Salinger's writing. 'Franny' tells the story of an undergraduate visiting her boyfriend in an unnamed college town. 'Zooey' is set shortly afterwards, with the titular character, a young actress, experiencing an existential breakdown in her parents Manhattan apartment, and receiving comfort from her younger sister Franny.The two novellas in the second work also feature the Glass family, with 'Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters' narrated by Buddy Glass and describing his army leave, during which he attends his brother Seymour's wedding.'Seymour: an Introduction' is Buddy's description of his brother Seymour, told in stream of consciousness as Buddy remembers his brother from his home.
