Viii + 228 pp. Appears to be the first edition of this first book of the series. One volume only. Frontis portrait. Beautifully bound in 3/4 brown leather, marbled boards, corners ruled in gold, spine has 4 raised bands and ornate gilt decoration. Little rubbing on the boards. Interior marbled end papers, old book plate of John Wilkinson Crake, numbers stamped on first blank, some foxing and rippling at frontis plate, interior otherwise clean and unmarked.
