In original full leather binding, with leather label on spine and bright gilt lettering. This is bound with "The History of New Jersey, from its Discovery by Europeans, to the Adoption of the Federal Constitution" by the same author, and with the same 1834 imprint. 266 plus 339 pages. The original handcolored foldout map is 3/4 missing, with northwest quadrant (New York City) remaining. The original owner dated her acquisition of this book in 1833, and its later owner quaintly wrote at the book's end: "When my days on earth is run, this Book I Leve unto my Son. Joseph S. Elston 1850." Considering its age the leather binding is in very good condition; occasional internal staining, part of front free end page is torn away, rear free end page is loosening.
