Carter Platts was 75 years old, Grayling Fishing was written partly to redress the balance, as he saw it, that despite a great interest from anglers in this fish, no books had been written on the subject for over thirty years; and partly as a result of a lifetime's affection for 'the lady of the stream.' He covers the subject in much detail, from its history, orgins and habitat to tackle and bait selection and its presence in the kitchen, and not only covers grayling in this country but a chapter is dedicated to the species in America.
