A first impression of the first edition published in 2008, which has a CD attached to the front pastedown in a plastic pocket. An earlier edition without the CD appeared in 2006. ***A near fine copy - appears unread - just light production creases to the title page - in illustrated laminated boards with a matching dustwrapper. The boards are clean and unmarked. No bumps or creases. Corners sharp. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Page block edges clean. Internally also fine with no inscriptions or annotations. Produced using nice quality photographic paper with no marks, creases or tears. Pages clean. ***In a fine colour illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of £14.99. The dustwrapper has no obvious faults, just the slightest of rubbing at the extremities. No chips, creases or tears. No fading. ***272mm x 195mm. 224 pages including a two-page Glossary at the back of the book. ***'Here is the perfect introduction to the best poems written since the start of the 20th century, their authors and their themes. Over 150 essential poems are accompanied by a brief discussion by poetry authority Michael Schmidt that provides insight, observations and the historical context for each poet and their work. With an introduction that suggests ways to appreciate the poems, and a glossary that demystifies the concepts and movements of modern poetry, "The Great Modern Poets" is an ideal welcome to the pleasures and insights poetry has to offer.' (Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper) ***A first impression of the first edition of this work which includes the audio CD - in immaculate condition. A very comprehensive anthology of modern poetry. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.…
