Item description from seller

First edition in this illustrated form, first printing. Bound in quarter vellum with decorative brown paper–covered boards and vellum corner tips. The spine title is stamped in 24-carat gold, while the upper board features an illustration blocked in brown, red, white, and gilt. Top edge gilt, with patterned gilt endpapers. This edition includes an original etching—hand printed under the artist’s supervision by the Pauper’s Press, Hoxton—along with seventeen finely mounted colour plates and decorative tailpieces by Peter Suart. The book is in fine condition: the binding is square and firm, with bright, fresh boards, and the interior is clean throughout, free from inscriptions or stamps. Housed in the publisher’s original Solander case, with a red calf spine label stamped in gilt, showing minor scuffing. Issued in a strictly limited edition of 1,000 numbered copies, of which this example is numbered II as part of 30 additional copies in Roman numerals 'not for sale'. A finely produced and beautifully illustrated edition of Gulliver’s Travels.
