The book is hard cover, with a handmade paper jacket carrying a photograph of a famed sculpture of Gandhi's leadership by one of India's leading sculptors D. P. Roy Choudhury. It analyses the components of Gandhi's leadership, compares it with those of other modern leaders, lists its achievements and impact in various fields, its vindication in the six decades since his assassination and in the contemporary global scenario, as also his continuing inspirational role as a leadership model.

About the Author

The author is a retired Ambassador of India who has served in Tokyo , Rangoon , Lima, London, Accra, Chicago, New York, Cairo and Mexico and also was Director General, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi. After his retirement in May 1994 he has been Guest lecturer at the National Institute of Advanced Studies and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, the National Defence College, New Delhi. He is one of the founders and the Managing Trustee of Sarvodaya International Trust, an international Mahatma Gandhi movement promoting integrity in public life, communal harmony, non-violence, humanitarian service and peace. This Trust presently has ten chapters in India and an international support base. Among foreign universities he has lectured at are East West Centre and the University of Hawaii, Stanford, Berkeley, American, Yale, and Columbia Universities, and the Philipines, Indonesia, Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies Universities. His widely acclaimed book Gandhi s Outstanding Leadership was released in New Delhi by former Indian Prime Minister I. K. Gujral and at the UN by then Under Secretary General Shashi Taroor. On October 9, 2007 he was presented the U Thant Peace Award at the United Nations, for his Life Time of Dedication and World Service by promoting the Gandhian Values of Truth, Non- Violence, Communal Harmony and Humanitarian Service . Among previous recipients of this Award were Pope John Paul II, The Dalai Lama, Mikhail Gorbachev, Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
