16mo - over 5¾ - 6¾" tall. Orig. orange cloth. 382 pp., [2] pp. ads. Spine tilted and sunned. Ink ownership inscription to ffep. Dust jacket is damp stained, chipped to lower corner. Gay Life is a novel of the cross-section variety, and deals with a cosmopolitan group of people, staying in a hotel on the south coast of France. The whole of the action takes place in a fortnight. The events that occur in that short space of time are far-reaching in their effect, both socially and psychologically, and the lives of almost all the characters in the book are affected by their short association under one roof.
