8vo. Full calf, spine gilt, covers ruled in gilt and stamped in blind. Engraved vignette on title, engraved head & tailpieces throughout. Name stamp and ownership signature on title, some rubbing to joints and front cover, a clean very good copy. This copy of the variety with the author's last name as "FIDDFS" on the title (as are all copies we have seen). In this copy the leaf [A6], listing the contents of the lengthy Preface, is bound after the preface, between leaves r3 & r4. Fiddes was a scholarly Divine. This is written against Shaftesbury's Inquiry concerning Virtue (1699) and Mandeville's Fable of the Bees (1705, book edition 1714). An agreeable copy.
