The June 1980 issue of the US edition of Geo magazine (Vol 2, No. 6), with: the rising numbers of Russian muslims with photographs mostly by Marc Riboud; the Pietrasanta marble quarry in Italy photographed by Will McBride; an in-depth look at the Longbow farming community in northern China by William Hinton and photographed by Richard Gordon; "Good Times Coming in Arkansas" with photos by John Chao; carnivorous plants; a Biblical tour of Jerusalem; the case for nuclear power; and more. Geo was launched in the US in 1979 as a general interest magazine, following successful versions of the magazine in Germany and France. It is best known as a showcase of excellent photojournalism and for its in-depth writing. It ceased publication in the US in 1985. Edited by H.J. Kaplan.
