"Vibration is a fact of life. Whether naturally induced by environmental factors, or the result of using products ranging from aircraft and missiles to automobiles to washing machines, vibration is constantly with us and can, at times, be physically and economically harmful. With today's increased and even legislated demands for greater product reliability and safety, an increased understanding of vibration is a MUST. Uncontrolled vibration can lead to: 1. Catastrophic failure caused by resonance. 2. Excessive wear. 3. Shipping damage. 4. Faulty operation of precision equipment. The purpose of most vibration design efforts is to 'prevent' resonance. Hence, the study of free vibrations and the determination of natural frequencies is of greatest importance." ---- from the Preface Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.…
