Prev. owner's name on FFEP in ink. Light shelfwear to card covers, minor creasing.; A tight solid book.; B&W Illustrations; 9 X 5.90 X 0.90 inches; 284 pages; As arctic and Subarctic of the Canadian North take their place in the global economy, the interplay of resource development, the environment, and the peoples of the North has caused dramatic change. This book examines the dominant images of the North and traces the impact of resource exploitation and mega-projects such as Quebec Hydro's massive James Bay development. It includes a discussion of the effects on people's lives--Native people, southern Canadians, and the growth of regional centres and resource towns. With detailed illustrations and problem-oriented discussion of the Canadian North, this volume will provide a balanced look for those concerned with the human and environmental costs of development.

Shipping terms
Orders usually ship within 2 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized, we may contact you to let you know extra shipping is required. International shipments that qualify for Global Priority shipping will be sent that way so long as the book fits (well packaged) in the flat rate envelope. Please note that USPS no longer offers international Surface Mail but because we are located in Canada we can offer this option.
Please note that the International shipping rate is for books 2 lbs or more fully packaged. If your book weighs less I will mail 1st Class (air mail) and reduce the S&H to the current 1st Class rate.
To our US customers, Please note shipments to the US usually arrive in 7-10 days, not a guarantee but an observation. Please note that due to Canadian travel restrictions, we are no longer able to cross the border to drop our parcels off at the US Post Office. We are temporarily raising our shipping rates to the US. When the travel restrictions are lifted, the cost will return to normal.
