1987. [iv], 136pp. The book is in excellent condition. There are no inscriptions and all contents are tight and clean. "George MacDonald, born in the north-east of Scotland, is best known for his fantasy novels and fairy stories such as At the Back of the North Wind and the two Princess books. David S. Robb offers new readings of these works. These are preceded, however, by two chapters on the Scottish novels, which are thus given a prominence not allowed to them in other studies of MacDonald. The author argues that the best of MacDonald's Scottish fiction is more valuable than has hitherto been believed. There is also a chapter outlining George MacDonald's life which contains material not available in other biographies.".
