Illustrated throughout with color and black and white plates and reproductions of period manuscripts, newspaper ads, invoices and views of the various home in which the Washingtons lived. Prologue and epilogue by Christine Meadows, Mount Vernon curator. A lavish historical look at the china owned and used by George Washington and his family from the 1750s through the end of his life. Hundreds of these objects have survived and together they illuminate not only Washington's taste and personality but also the trade, shipping and coomercial practices of the last half of the 18th century in America.
