The actor Peter Ustinov was playing Lear at Stratford, Ontario (5 October-4 November). John Leslie Sanderson was a book collector who used to visit Alan Anderson in Edinburgh; 10 years after Sanderson's death, his widow, Marjorie, at his wish, gave his collection of Norman Douglas books and manuscripts, "one of the most complete collections known", to the National Library of Scotland.
