Item description from seller

Octavo, 156pp. Green cloth spine, tan boards, title in black on spine. Stated "first printing" on copyright page. Solid text block, top edge dyed black, appears unread, a fine example. In publisher's price-clipped dust jacket, faint shelf wear and staining on bottom edge, a very good example. The Ginger Man by J.P. Donleavy was first published in Paris in 1955. It was originally banned in the United States because of obscenity, but eventually found an audience. The first American edition was published by McDowell in 1958. The Modern Library declared it one of the best 100 novels of the 20th century.
