Stated First Printing, First Edition. The orange covers are in very nice condition and perfectly clean. Whatever child may have once owned this book was clearly not very silly, was very responsible. There is a minor amount of wear, none of it terribly conspicuous. There is a circular indent under the second 'L' in 'Silly' on the front cover, there are a couple of light scratches on the rear cover, there are tiny spots of rubbing at the corners, there are very small spots of rub-through at the corners of the top and bottom edges of the spine, and there is a sliver of color loss just off the top edge of the rear cover, with just a tiny bit on the top edge. That's about it. The cover edges look very good. The black lettering and illustrations on the front cover look very good, same with the lettering on the spine. I don't see any staining on the page edges. The book and spine are pretty square and straight. The binding is very solid from cover to cover with nicely tight pages throughout and nicely tight covers as well. The illustrated inside covers and end papers look very good with just a speck of a spot on the front inside cover. The pages are remarkably clean. I haven't found even one instance of soiling anywhere. They also appear to be free of wear. I don't see any creasing, no turned-down corners or placeholder creases. There are no markings. No attachments. And no one has written their name or anything else anywhere in the book. The many illustrations in orange and black-and-white are quite nice and are all in excellent condition. I'm showing you pictures of the dust jacket so I'm going to try to control my compulsion to over-describe. Briefly, there are several edge tears on the front cover, there is a small loss off the front bottom corner, there's also a straight vertical crease on the front near to its middle edge. There is loss at both spine ends, not reaching the print. The rear cover has a tear off its top edge and one off its bottom edge with the tiny bit of loss at the juncture between the rear cover and rear flap. There are also two scratches/scuffs on the rear cover and there is the smooth white rubbing you can see on the orange parts of the jacket. Failed again. The flaps, which you can't see, are in solid shape. There is a small red pen jag on the front flap, also a fairly light crease off its middle edge. The top corner of the front flap is clipped and the price is no longer. The jacket will be fitted with a protective cover after the photos are scanned. From the front flap: 'Young Billy and I were out for a walk. We are such good friends that we sometimes talk. Our conversation was just beginning When he dropped from the branch where he was chinning; But a little girl came down the street. I thought she was pretty and neat and sweet, But Billy only looked at his feet. I thought he would say 'Hello,' or 'Hi,' But he looked at his feet as she went by, And I couldn't help but ask him why.
