Approx. 70 other b/w text illus. xix, 289pp. 4to, original 1/2 yellow cloth with decorated front board, page margins uncut, edges of boards worn including edges of corners, front board lightly soiled, back board moderately soiled. small chip to bottom margin of first page of the table of contents. London: John Murray, 1899. First Edition The authors travelled throughout Guatemala including visits to Copan, Rabinal, Ikun, Chichen Itza, Palenque, Tikal, and Menche. "Charming narrative of the Maudslay's early travels in the Guatemala Highlands and the Maya lowlands. Contains smaller reproductions of some of the fine photos from Biologia Centrali Americana." Griffin 1189. Alfred Percival Maudslay went on six expeditions to Guatemala during his lifetime, including excavating at the ruins of Chichen Itza, Copan, and Quirigua. Welch 63. Humphreys 1748. Internally a bright tight copy with beautiful illustrations.
