Williams & Norgate. London. 1902. True first edition, often erroneously stated as the 1903 edition. Green cloth hardback, decorated in gilt. Top edge of pages gilt. No DW. Publisher's copy with professional edits to prepare the 1903 edition. Main features of these edits is to remove from the appendix Maud Tennyson, so title page is red penned as is mention of "my brother" which is corrected to "Bertram" and "our father" corrected to "his father" at the introduction to Bertram Tennyson's "The Blizzard." Maud's input is erased for some reason. Other spelling mistakes are also corrected. Boards have splash marks, frontis. and tissue guard are loose. Pages browned otherwise a clean and sound copy.
