First editions of this massive run of groundbreaking periodicals on climate change, filled with original interdisciplinary scientific research exploring the interfaces between the marine, atmospheric, geological, and biological sciences. When this important journal was originally published, the World's population had just tipped over 5 billion, atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations were about 350 parts per million, and the debate on climate change had begun in earnest, with the founding of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change founded in 1988. GBC within its first 20 years established a reputation as one of the American Geophyiscal Unions most respected journals, documented changes in global biogeochemical cycles over timescales, and featured such significant editors as Jorge Sarmiento, Bill Reeburgh, Meinrat Andraea, and Eric Sundquist. The 1988 year featured the seminal special issue on the impact of global methane on the world's climate, including papers by Reeburgh, Whalen, Bartylett, Westberg, Sarmiento, Herbert, Toggweiler, and others. These volumes include significant papers on atmospheric sciences, hydrology, mineralogy, oceanography, palaeoceanography, upwelling, biochemistry, ecosystems, inorganic marine chemistry, carbon biogeochemistry, and many more. Nearly all of the bound volumes include their invaluable author and subject indexes in the final annual issue. Extensive continuous runs of these important journals are very uncommon in the market, especially from one of the chief contributors, and contributing editors.…
