Written in a candid and engaging style, Going the Distance is a unique book that tackles tough and intellectually invigorating issues, such as:
Does the right of fair speech, to many a super-right, overcome rights of privacy, contract and trademarks?;
What can a litigant do when the judge sitting on his case does notor will notobey the rules and there is no right of appeal?;
Can a charitable corporation change its mission and pass on profits to anothers business?
Chapter 1 presents the authors encounters with the late Honorable Charles S. Wyzanski, Jr., a legal mind of genius proportion whose demeanor on the bench was both harsh and mercurial. Mr. Caner recounts "combat" experiences battling Judge Wyzanskis inexplicable acquittal of the Standard Coil defendants even before witnesses had testified. Chapter 3 recalls a comical episode in a 19th century pastoral setting. Mr. Caner recounts developments in the case and evidentiary issues that make the reader chuckle.
Other cases featured in Going the Distance arose out of headline events of the recent past, such as the sale of the Boston Marathon, a Boston icon; and the Commonwealths action to ban showings of Frederick Wisemans film depicting "various forms of madness" displayed by inmates of MCI Bridgewater. Going the Distance treats the reader to a savvy, "birds eye view" into what may unfold upon entering the halls of justice as a litigant, attorney, witness or juror.

Store description
We work from home, and our business is 95% internet-based, but our new location allows us to have retail trade by chance or appointment. Please Call First to make sure we'll be here, and that we carry the kinds of books you're interested in. We have lots of 'good reads', but much of our inventory is a bit scholarly or obscure. We don't have mass market paperbacks, or popular authors like James Patterson or Danielle Steele, unless the book would be signed.

Terms of sale
Prices listed on-line are NET TO ALL. SHIPPING: We apologize for the rates listed for overseas shipping, but the Postal Service has discontinued surface mail for books, and our only option is now airmail. Also, please note: If a book is large or has a shipping weight of over 4 pounds, international costs can run twice what is listed for the default rates. However, if a book costs us only $25 to ship, and the default shipping is $40, we will reduce the shipping costs accordingly. (Please keep in mind that ABE's credit card discount % also applies to shipping, so it's not to the penny, but rather to our approximate cost.)
Shipping terms
All dust jackets have mylar applied before shipping, and all books are boxed for shipping. Most orders received by noon go out that day.
