Very likely a first edition because both book & jacket list only #5 of this series and there is a 1923 inscription on the FFEP. Exterior: looks good with being clean and having very little wear;it does have a slight lean and bumped head and heel of the spine and some shelf wear on the bottom edge. Interior has the penciled inscription on the FFEP & a small store sticker on the rear paste down; other than a few tiny stains that barely penetrate from the fore edge, that is the extent of the interior's blemishes; it has strong hinges, unmarked pages, and very flexible paper. The jacket has a taped repair on the rear panel (see photo), a darkened spine that has smallish chips at the head and heel of the spine, and a front panel that has a front fold that is soiled and worn through for about 3 inches, a closed tear (once taped on the back side) going from the mens' knees to the bottom edge, and three very visible scratches that do not go all the way through the paper (see photo).
