About this Item
A highly acclaimed memoir by concert pianist Jeremy Denk, blending autobiography, music criticism, and reflections on artistic development. Structured around a series of 'music lessons,' the book traces Denk's journey from child prodigy to internationally recognized pianist while exploring the works of Bach, Mozart, Brahms, Schumann, and other composers. Richly illustrated with musical examples and written with humor, candor, and insight, the memoir offers both an intimate portrait of a musician's life and an accessible introduction to classical music. The work was widely praised for its combination of intellectual depth, personal vulnerability, and engaging prose.
