Front hinge tender. ; This work by the pioneer lexicologist of the Hawaiian language and missionary was published in 1854, creating an early Hawaiian imprint with his "Mission Press," He compiled a dictionary of Hawaiian late in his career after he had produced this rare early Hawaiian language book. In this book, he identified the parts of speech, noting it was an uninflected language whose meaning derived from prepositions and word order.
