In early 1942, The Sporting News sent letters to more than 100 former baseball stars and managers, asking them the simple question: Who do you consider the greatest player of all time? Ty Cobb was the overwhelming choice, 60 of the 102 respondents selected him. H. G. Salsinger in the 1951 edition of the Baseball Register had his 22 chapter story of this title republished. The Editor presented Salsinger work in this volume without any editorial changes. The text, photos, and photo captions are as reprinted in that 1951 edition of the Baseball Register. Even this self-published book has become almost impossible to find. In very good plus condition. I have more than 125 publications on the Best of Baseball in stock.
