About this Item
G.P. Putnam's Sons. New York. 1963. 122 pages. First edition, first printing. Book is tight; binding and hinges are sound. Rare original DJ with $2.95 price intact on DJ flap. This book was written in 1963 when only five million Americans owned mutual funds. This book was marketed as an alarming warning regarding the hidden truth about mutual funds, and the low-down on these investment vehicles, hidden fees, tax liabilities being passed on to the uninformed investor, etc. Yet some sixty years later, the amount of Americans invested in mutual funds has grown from five million, to 100 million. This copy is tight and sound in an attractive DJ, however it is noticable aesthetic flaws. Specifically, there is masking tape on the covers that held an old DJ protector in place. The tape has been touched-up to match the color of the panels. Endpapers show evidence of the old DJ protector's tape ghosts and toning. Scuffing to rear endpaper and small textural scuff on title page at base. Minor soiling to black panels. DJ flaps show staining and old tape. A good only copy with obvious aeshetic flaws, in an attractive DJ with flaws. Seller Inventory # 003134
