Group of short fiction, poetry and and one essay on censorship by American poet and short story writer Jascha Kessler. from the collection of Barbara & Michael Poe. Born in 1929 in Brooklyn Kessler's career included a professorship of English and Modern Literature at UCLA and translating of poetry and prose from Eastern European languages. He received many honors including the Major Hopwood Award for Poetry from the University of Michigan in 1952, an NEA Fellowship in Writing and three Senior Fulbright awards. Kessler was a Rockefeller Fellow in 1979, was given the California Arts Council Fellowship in Fiction Writing and various awards for translation. He became the first American to receive the Hungarian PEN Club's Memorial Medal in 1979. FICTION: 1.
