Reviews
Part one covers the basic gardening techniques--selecting a site, improving the soil, planning and planting, feeding and watering, and insects and diseases, as well as chapters on gardening in containers and specialty gardens. Part two is an alphabetical guide to growing more than 200 fruits, vegetables, herbs, nuts, and grains. Each entry starts with planning and plant selection, then continues with information on care through the season, problem prevention (pest control, etc.), and harvesting. Entries for some of the more popular crops offer an "at a glance" feature that has data on sites, soil, spacing, and days to maturity. George Cohen
