In a pictorial unclipped dust jacket . Jacket with small chips and closed tears. A small rough spot on the front of jacket. Some discoloration and light staining to covers of jacket. "A tale full of humor and young life. The early chapters describe the relationship of an imaginative young boy and his charming mother in a suburban house. The mother dies and the rest of the book shows James in London developing apace in the house of a vivid and robust Mrs. Vibert and her equally vivid daughters. A love affair leaves James unhappy, but not too wretched and there is, after all, another sister. The novel is excellent in comedy, with some chapters of singular grace and feeling."
