Another of the vintage readers that every Baby Boomer remembers so well, much maligned & ultimately phased out of the curriculum as irrelevant, sexist, &/or racist, but still able to bring back memories of learning to read. This is NOT a revision, but a First Edition hardcover from 1951 (Teacher's Edition), with peach/red/white cloth-covered boards; no DJ, as issued (never had one). In addition to the full text in 95 pages, with colorful pictures of Dick, Jane, Spot, Puff, Father, Mother, & Baby Sally on every page, it contains the teacher's Guidebook, a 96-page section that describes each lesson, the skills it is supposed to develop, & how best to teach it. Being the teacher's copy, condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, colors vivid, pages creamy white with a whisper of tanning, but completely unmarked save for old school stamps in front matter. Reinforced binding is secure & straight, corners crisp. Our photos depict the Ex act book you will receive from us, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have!
