18.5x11.3 cm. Original printed wrappers, bottom half of front wrapper is severely scorched, first several leaves and folding map with lighter scorching. Overall fair to good condition only. Front wrapper reads "1875-1876 Season Guide to Southern Georgia and Florida - Atlantic & Gulf R. R." 70 pp., map, folded advertisement. This is a very rare travel guide to Georgia and Northern Florida soon after the Civil War. While Reconstruction in Georgia ended in 1871, it was still in place in Florida when this was published. Many ads, largely for businesses in Savannah and Jacksonville, but also in some smaller towns. Published by Morning New Steam Printing House. OCLC 946782587 locates only one copy of this guide (U.of Texas) while OCLC 1288420815 shows one copy of the 32-page 1874 first edition (Library of Congress). In spite of its rough appearance, this is an extremely rare piece, complete with map and folding ad for a doctor in Jacksonville (?), promoting travel to the recovering South.
