Light wear to cloth, glue remains at rear inside cover (ex-lb/bookplate?) else near fine in rubbed dust jacket. with wear to head & foot of spine, not price clipped, $4.50 price intact, in protective mylar cover. Her 1st book. Insp. Maurice Ygrec; France. Solange is an enormous, grotesque woman with one redeeming feature -- her beautiful hands. She lives out a semi-demented existence in a grubby little French cafe until the day the young gendarme stumbles in with a dagger in his back. She decides to keep him, her "beautiful secret" locked in the wardrobe. Then a waitress disappears. But then she is distracted by her husband Henri who discovers other beautiful secrets -- hoarded money. Inspector Ygrec suspects that both are connected with a series of strange occurances in the neighborhood. But even he is unprepared for the the bizarre, unforgettable nightmare the investigation becomes.
