HARVEST Volume Two THE HOUSEHOLD

Unlettered gray cloth cover, flawless. 82 (inc. ill. t.p), 16 monochrome plates in 2 8 pp. blocks, 8 text ills; Xmas 1952 gift inscription to fr. end-paper which also has tanning to top and outer edges, as has rear end-paper though much lighter, otherwise clean, tight and unmarked. Unclipped jacket has a clean illustrated front but back has numerous brown and grey marks while edges are all chipped and rubbed to various degrees, hardly great but seems better than given in other listings so given age a G+ rating seems reasonable, will add protective sleeve when ordered. Apparently fairly uncommon, Volume One (1945) is a little commoner and the only other issue produced. The plates are illustrations of works by artists including Chardin, Bonnard, Vuillard, Paul Nash and Duncan Grant, the text ills. inc. 2 by Ardizzone. The essays and poems seem to be original, authors inc. C.Day Lewis, Kirkup, and Maurice Nicoll. 17.3 cm x 23.5 cm.
