First edition. Cloth, 640 pp., frontispiece portrait, 47 plates from photographs. Map on endpapers. Introduction. Appendices. Bibliography. Index. A detailed history of the Nez Perce Indians and the Nez Perce War of 1877, as seen from the Indian's perspective. The author befriended the Nez Perce and other northwest Indians and wrote their history from interviews and personal contact. Considered by most historians to be the best work on the Nez Perce War. Large faded spot on lower half of front cover, with light wear to spine ends and corners. Very good.
