Reviews
This handsome volume, published to accompany a major exhibition, shows the importance of lithography in Toulouse-Lautrec's art and its strong relationship to his drawings and paintings. Supplementary essays provide biographical facts and an overview of the period, but the heart of the book is the illustrated, annotated catalog of the 301 items that constituted the show. The high-quality reproductions include rare and unique examples and document the evolution of certain works from early sketches to finished posters, revealing the subtle changes in color and rhythm found in various states of a print.
