The book was first published the previous year as a hardback by Harvill Press, and preceded the first American publication which was a paperback original. Edited by William L. Stull, with a Foreword by Tess Gallagher. ***Very good in glossy illustrated card covers. Indentation crease to the front cover affecting the first couple of pages. Indentation mark to the back cover. Corners of covers slightly rubbed and creased. Small crease and tear to the top of the spine. Edges of covers slightly rubbed and creased but no reading creases to the spine. Internally also very good with no inscriptions. No foxing to the pages. Pages clean and bright. Top corners of the first few pages slightly creased. No tears. Spine tight. ***239 pages. 216mm x 135mm. ***Contents - Early Stories: Furious Seasons, The Hair, The Aficionados, Poseidon and Company, Bright Red Apples, Fragment of a Novel: From The Augustine Notebooks, Poems, Occasions, Introductions, Book Reviews, An Essay and a Meditation, Notes. ***'By the time of his tragically early death, Raymond Carver was acknowledged as one of the most original writers in the English language of his generation. For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging materials; any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only; for the UK, our standard rate is for first class, and the priority rate includes tracked (signed for) delivery; for International sales, our standard rate is for Airmail delivery, and the priority rate is for tracked (International signed for) delivery. We would prefer that you choose the priority rate (tracked option) for higher value books of say �50 or more. Please note that we will always reduce shipping fees where appropriate e.g. for smaller (lighter) books when we accept your order.
