Voisin to top corners of fr. end-paper, half title and p. vi, Small sig. of Alan Gauld top fr. end-paper and his small lib.label bottom front pastedown, being from the library of the eminent Dr Alan Gauld (1932-2014), psychologist and parapsychologist, formerly Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Nottingham, President of the Society for Psychical Research (1989-1992) and author of numerous books on spiritualism, paranormal phenomena and the history of hypnosis. Includes a very detailed account of Mesmer and the Mesmerism controversies up to 1837. 13.5 c. x 21 cm.
