FIRST ENGLISH EDITION 1655, IN TWO PARTS, EX LIBRARY COPY. 4to, approximately 280 x 180 mm, 11 x 7 inches, portrait frontispiece, large folding map, costume plate, portrait frontispiece facing title page of Bellum followed by a map, all engraved, pages: [10], 1-308, plus 2 pages of adverts, nicely rebound in full modern calf, gilt lettered label with gilt rules and date to spine, gilt design to upper cover, blind decoration to both covers, marbled endpapers. Blind stamp to frontispiece hardly visible, faint round ink stamp to the blank side of both title pages and 1 in an outer margin not affecting text, pale withdrawn stamp under the round stamp on verso first title page (see attached image), lower corner on blank side of frontispiece soiled and just showing on recto, title page slightly dusty, small closed tear running into image of large folding map neatly repaired on blank side, no loss to image and hardly visible, 2 small tears to top margins neatly repaired, not affecting text, 2 tiny rust holes, 1 in lower margin not affecting text, the other in the text just affecting 1 letter either side, text easily legible, pale age-browning and foxing to 4 pages at beginning and 4 at rear and several margins, otherwise a very good copy.
