Second edition (revised and expanded from the 1932 first edition). 408 pages. Paperback: H 19.5cm x L 13.25cm. Tan paper covers soiled, frequent small dark stains at front cover's right half along with slightly curled fore-edge corners plus crease to bottom corner too, faint moisture stain at spine heel and at bottom of rear cover which too has several dark stains near top. Stains on top edge and fore-edge fractionally affecting a few leaves at their margins; several initial leaves have slightly upturned/curled fore-edge corners; toning to pages 1 and 408 but interior leaves overall remain clean. Binding is firm. Only a good+ copy per its exterior cosmetics but still a very uncommon book. With frontispiece b/w portrait photo of Texas League President J. Alvin Gardner and b/w team and player photographs scattered amongst text. Encyclopedic reference regarding baseball in the Lone Star State from the first season of the Texas League in 1888 through 1950. Ruggles includes a season by season review with team rosters and club histories for Ardmore, Austin, Beaumont, Brenham, Cleburne, Corsicana, Dallas, Denison, Fort Worth, Galveston, Greenville, Houston, Lake Charles, Longview, New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Paris, San Antonio, Sherman, Shreveport, Temple, Texarkana, Tulsa, Tyler, Waco, and Wichita Falls.
