1st Ed. 607 PP with 15 b/w illustrations and information on the "Way to the Cross" and hundreds of musical scores. FEP: A Prayer for the Army. REP: A Prayer for the Navy. Cloth covers, gilt title on front cover and spine. A shoulder patch of the Americal Division loose and a tipped in note (on verso of the free fly of the front endpaper), stating that it was used by the US soldiers based in New Caledonia during the during World War Two. Americal Division, i.e. American in New Caledonia Division. A fine copy. Image also shows the shoulder patch of the Americal Division. 22.2 x 15. After Pearl Harbour, and up to Tokyo surrender, some 700.000 US personnel (Army / Air Force / Navy / Marine Corps / Coast Guard) transited in New Caledonia.
