Handbill. Irregularly trimmed octavo sheet. Measuring approximately 6" x 8¾". Printed recto only on very thin paper. Two tiny corner chips and a marginal tear, creasing and modest soil, very good. The remainder of the text reads: "Broadcasts of lesser importance are carried over the air-waves without restriction, but this freedom of speech is denied a Christian leader. WDAS advertisers depend upon your support. What Are You Going to Do?" Also prints the names and addresses of two members of the "Loyal Score Club of East Germantown," a Coughlin-aligned "Social Justice Clubs." According to two articles published in *The Philadelphia Inquirer* in December 1938, about 350 people picketed the station on Sunday the 4th, and 4,000 (!) picketed the following Sunday, in protest of the station's refusal to broadcast Coughlin's talk (ostensibly for not submitting a copy to the station before broadcast). The *Inquirer* notes in the second article that the "Loyal Score Club of East Germantown" partnered with two other clubs, the "West Philadelphia Social Justice Club" and the "Public Defenders League of South Philadelphia," on the second protest. An eerie and ephemeral survivor, illustrating the tension over broadcasting the words of the anti-Semitic and Nazi-sympathizing Coughlin. …
