Add to basketThe vanishingly scarce first edition of H. R. Wallis's illustrated guide to Uganda in the 1910s, intended for the use of British subjects travelling abroad. A very scarce first edition. A second edition was published in 1920.With chapters on the anthropology, zoology, entomology, meteorology, agriculture, livestock, land, trade and social structure of Uganda in this period.Illustrated with a frontispiece, and with further vignette photographic illustrations, and with a folding map. Collated, complete.Small label to front paste down stating: "The solution used in binding this book has been specially prepared in order to render the work impervious to the ravages of insects." In the publisher's original cloth binding. Minor losses of cloth to joint, with bumping to fore edge of front board. Joint heads and tails starting, with boards firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned, with the odd handling mark. Good.
