Add to basketSplendid 1st Edition/1st Printing of this scarce "biographical narrative" by the fine writer of popular histories and adventure stories, Harold Lamb. Lamb was best known for the numerous stories he published in Adventure magazine, many of which featured Cossacks, Crusaders or Asian protagonists but he also wrote many fine biographies, histories, and novels. Lamb strove for historical accuracy in everything he wrote. He was scholarly -- in addition to English he spoke French, Latin, Persian and Arabic -- and adventurous; he traveled widely throughout the Far and Middle Easts. This copy is just beautiful. It looks brand new but close inspection reveals some tiny scratches on the inside edge of the bottom edges of the covers and spine. Otherwise, this 1st printing is in nearly flawless condition, although the previous owner's bookplate is neatly attached to the verso of the first free endpage. The dust jacket is not price-clipped and is absolutely spotless but does have very light rub wear on the back panel and some tiny chips and tears along the edges, none of which exceeds about 1/8". This volume would make a gorgeous addition to any historical library. Will be bubble-wrapped and shipped in a sturdy box to ensure safe delivery.
