Second State of the First Edition, First Printing of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. Number line of 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 , J.K. Rowling listed on the copyright page. The book is unread with a tight binding and clean pages, without names or inscriptions and even with only very minor browning of pages. Very minor dent to upper front corner, sharp spine ends and cornertips. The near fine first edition dust jacket is minor wrinkled at the upper spine end and to one corner, without any wear and with vibrant colors. The first print run consisted of 5,150 copies only (Errington: 187), divided into two states. By common opinion the second state is a bit less rare than the first state, although according to Errington the difference in printed copies must be minimal: 2,500 versus 2,650 copies. Hardcover. Condition: As New. Dust Jacket Condition: As New. 1st Edition. The book presented here is the second state book of the first printing. There were said to be three states but third is now largely accepted to be the first Australian edition. This copy has J.K. Rowling listed on the copyright page and the complete number line 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1. The book and dust jacket presented here are in fine condition with no fading at all, the pages are bright and clean with no inscriptions or marks of any kind. The book is unread, the binding is tight, the boards are square with sharp corners with no foxing of any kind. The pages are clean and free from any creases, marks, ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind. The page edges are free from any toning, which is extremely rare with these books as the paper stock was of very poor quality. The book and dust jacket are in pristine condition with no flaws at all. The book comes housed in a dark green quarter leather clamshell box. There are reported to be 5000 first printing copies across both states, however the exact split is not known.
