The book presented here is the second state book of the first printing. There were said to be three states but third is now largely accepted to be the first Australian edition. This copy has J.K. Rowling listed on the copyright page and the complete number line 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1. The book and dust jacket presented here are in fine condition with no fading at all, the pages are bright and clean with no inscriptions or marks of any kind. The book is unread, the binding is tight, the boards are square with sharp corners with no foxing of any kind. The pages are clean and free from any creases, marks, ownership inscriptions or writing of any kind. The page edges are free from any toning, which is extremely rare with these books as the paper stock was of very poor quality. The book and dust jacket are in pristine condition with no flaws at all. There are reported to be 5000 first printing copies across both states, however the exact split is not known. This is a rare book which is getting harder and harder to find in such perfect condition.

Tenth edition hardcover with unclipped dust jacket, in good condition. Jacket is worn, and edges are creased and nicked. Board corners and spine ends are bumped and rubbed, and spine is slightly cocked. Page block and page edges are tanned, and previous owner's name penned to FEP. A few of the page corners are dog-eared. Semi hinge break at title page, however binding remains sound, and pages are clear. LW

For most children, summer vacation is something to look forward to. But not for our 13-year-old hero, who's forced to spend his summers with an aunt, uncle, and cousin who detest him. The third book in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series catapults into action when the young wizard "accidentally" causes the Dursleys' dreadful visitor Aunt Marge to inflate like a monstrous balloon and drift up to the ceiling. Fearing punishment from Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon (and from officials at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry who strictly forbid students to cast spells in the nonmagic world of Muggles), Harry lunges out into the darkness with his heavy trunk and his owl Hedwig.

As it turns out, Harry isn't punished at all for his errant wizardry. Instead he is mysteriously rescued from his Muggle neighborhood and whisked off in a triple-decker, violently purple bus to spend the remaining weeks of summer in a friendly inn called the Leaky Cauldron.
