About this Item
**Includes note from JACK LORD returning book to ED SHEEHAN that references an abandoned, joint writing project** Sheehan appeared in over a dozon episodes of Hawaii Five-O with Lord, who stared as the original Steve McGarrett. Even without the iconic Hawaii celebrity connection, this is an attractive book, with a colorful jacket with artwork by Arthur Shilstone. This copy is a first printing. Dust jacket edges are bumped and worn. The dust jacket and endpapers are heavily tanned, and page edges foxed. Binding is tight and pages are clean. Sheehan wrote his name in pencil on the inside cover, which, according to the note from Lord, is how he knew to return it. 'Hawaii: A Literary Chronicle' is a collection of literature and literary criticism about Hawaii, from the earliest myths and legends to the contemporary writing of the 1960s. The book includes excerpts from works by well-known writers such as Mark Twain, Robert Louis Stevenson, and Jack London, as well as lesser-known authors who wrote about Hawaii. The editor, W. Storrs Lee, provides commentary and context for each selection, making the book an excellent introduction to the rich literary tradition of Hawaii. Lee dedicated the book to Mary Kawena Pukui, a scholar of Hawaiian language, history, and culture. Seller Inventory # 144923
