Hawksmoor, Peter Ackroyd, Hamish Hamilton, 1985, First Edition, First Impression Winner of the Best Novel at the 1985 Whitbread Awards and the Guardian Fiction Prize, the book tells the parallel stories of Nicholas Dyer, who built seven churches in 18th-century London for which he needed human sacrifices and Nicholas Hawksmoor, a detective in the 1980s, who investigated murders committed in the same churches. In near fine condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the spine bright. There is minimal shelf wear to the top edge of the spine. The end papers and pages are free from marks, tears and inscriptions. The unclipped dust jacket is in near fine condition with minimal nibbling to the top edge of the front cover, the top edge of the spine and the top edge of the back cover Will be dispatched wrapped in bubblewrap and in a cardboard box.
