Blue cloth on boards. No tile on front or spine, but there is a very faint discolouration on spine where a paper label title may have been placed. Mild bumping to top and bottom of spine and corners of boards. Previous owner's book plate inside front cover and discolouration the end papers front and rear. 97 pages of poetry plus 20 pages of notes and a further 4 pages of advertisements for Scott publications. Clean, tidy and firm throughout. A first edition of this epic poem, dedicated to Captain Cameron, who refused to convey police to the Isle of Skye on his steamer 'Locheil' in 1884, to carry out an operation against the Skye Crofters, a form of then modern 'clearances'. A very scarce item in this edition.
