Offered is "Helpful Letters," a catalog prepared by David C. Cook and published by the David C. Cook Publishing Company out of Chicago, Illinois. A stapled booklet printed on glossy paper measuring 4-1/8" by 5-1/8" and containing 16 pages including front and rear covers. No date indicated, although 1899. As stated, "A series of illustrated letters on different subjects, prepared expressly to help I.A.H. members" (the I.A.H. "I Am His" Circle). The catalog contains a list of 104 titles available in plain or in "Floral Covers" along with text entitled "Helping Others" which discusses ways in which to distribute the booklets after reading, and those booklets written for specific needs (those suitable for everyone; for those who are sick; for anyone in trouble; when one has lost a friend; for those in despair; other topics). In addition, there is information on "How to Get Others to Join the [I.A.H.] Circle" as well as other books for sale and I.A.H. supplies (such as the I.A.H. Wall Motto, I.A.H. Ring Polish; I.A.H. Stationery; I.A.H. Stamp). David C. Cook (1850-1927), a leader in the American Sunday school movement, founded his publishing company in Chicago, Illinois, in 1875 to provide affordable educational materials for children left homeless in the Great Chicago Fire (which occurred from October 8-10, 1871).
