Publisher's original red decorative cloth, stamped in gilt and blue-green on the front board and spine; top edge stained. Frontispiece illustration with original tissue guard. Illustrated by Charles Grunwald.

Contents generally clean and unmarked with light, even toning. Front free endpaper loosening but present. Partial separation visible at the front hinge. Binding remains sound with wear to the spine ends, including fraying and small tears, and bumped corners. An attractive copy in the publisher's original decorated cloth.

A historical romance set in eighteenth-century Detroit during the period of Pontiac's uprising. Combining regional history with fiction, the novel reflects early twentieth-century interest in the French and Native American history of the Great Lakes region and remains an appealing Detroit and Michigan collectible.
